| アメリカに見る価値観の変化 | 2021年10月 | 本公開講座は「アメリカに見る価値観の変化」と題したが、一番ポイントとしたのは「ポリコレ」という概念である。「ポリコレ」というのはpolitical correctnessのことで、英語では略してPCともいう。
political correctnessとは社会的弱者やマイノリティーに不快感や不利益を与えぬようにという善意から生まれたものだが、「度を過ぎたポリコレ文化」に警鐘を鳴らす人も少なくない。ポリコレ文化の蔓延によって、今のアメリカの若者はむしろ過剰に保護され“心の免疫力”が低いまま成長し、心と知性が弱体化しつつある。（J.ハイト、G.ルキアノフ）
講座では様々な事例を見ながら、現代のアメリカがどのように変化しつつあるのか、そして人々がポリコレ文化とどう向き合っているのか紹介した。
